Optimal protection of your shipments
International transport is largely organised by machines and automated processes. Therefore, we advise always ensuring your products are properly packaged. On this page, we have compiled a number of practical and useful packaging tips to optimally protect your shipments.
Your packaging checklist
- Attach the shipping label in the most commonly visible position on your shipment for maximum visibility.
- Remove old transport labels and shipping documents to avoid confusion.
- Ensure the shipping label is securely attached and clearly visible on your shipment.
- Make sure the goods fit properly inside the packaging to prevent damage.
- Use shock-absorbing materials inside the packaging for additional protection.
- Check the thickness of the cardboard used and apply at least double-wall corrugated cardboard for added strength.
- Use sufficient void fill material to keep goods in place and absorb shocks.
- Use corrugated cardboard correctly for additional protection.
- Seal the packaging box securely with tape or nylon strapping.
- Always place fragile goods in the centre of the packaging for better protection.
- Protect edges and pointed ends to help prevent damage.
- Protect data and audio equipment with cushioning materials to minimise shock and damage.
- Place packages weighing more than 50 kilograms on a pallet for additional stability.
- Wrap rolled goods, such as carpets, in protective film to prevent damage.
- Pack liquid goods in leak-proof packaging to prevent leakage.
- Pack powders, fine grains and similar materials in strong fibreboard packaging for additional protection.
- Use dividers when packing multiple fragile items in one box to prevent damage.
- Use greaseproof paper when transporting oily liquids to help prevent leakage.
- If your shipment consists of multiple loose parts, package them together as one unit for cohesive protection.
